Transport:

By car – Hanging Rock is about 75 km north-west of Melbourne . On the Calder Freeway, take the Hanging Rock exit (C324: Woodend-Wallan Road ). Melway reference p 609, G9.

By bus - Departs from outside the Victorian Arts Centre at 9am and 10am, and the return bus leaves the Hanging Rock Reserve car park at 5pm. Return travel from Melbourne costs $58 including entry ticket. Bookings in advance are essential, call 1300 737 699 or www.frontierwines.com.au.

By train - Trains departs Southern Cross station for Woodend at 8.35am, 9.35am and 10.35am taking just over an hour. Melbourne-bound trains depart Woodend station at 3.23pm, 4.26pm and 5.28pm. Book trains through V/Line: 136196.  .

Shuttle bus - A shuttle bus will operate between Woodend train station and The Age Harvest Picnic at Hanging Rock. The first shuttle begins at 9.38am and runs until 5.30pm. The shuttle costs $4 per person each way and operates on a first come, first served basis. It may not run as regularly during quieter times.
 

Parking:

There is ample free on-site parking for cars. There is a designated area for parking coaches.

Bring:

A picnic blanket to sit on, a basket or bag to fill with the delicious goods on offer and a hat. A sunscreen pump is available for use at the information booth at the event.

ATMs:

There are no ATM facilities at Hanging Rock. The closest bank is in Woodend, 10 kilometres away. Most exhibitors will accept cash only for the purchase of products.

Disabled access:

Follow the signs along South Rock Road for disabled parking. Disabled toilets are located behind the Hanging Rock Café.

Accommodation:

Dogs:

Dogs are not encouraged, but if you do bring your dog, it must be kept on a lead at all times.

Weather:

The event is an all weather event and will go ahead rain, hail or shine. If the day is declared code red 'catastrophic', the Picnic will be cancelled.

From the Lancefield Farmers Market on Saturday 27 Feb, to a cooking class with Loretta Sartori at the Diana Marsland Cooking School in Woodend. On Saturday night Campaspe Country House is cooking up a big feast. They are hosting a Harvest Picnic dinner - a four course degustation menu, matched with Hanging Rock wines (cost per person $100).
